It's not my birthday until the 3rd of June, but I had my birthday dinner last night and it was awesome! I had a really good night out with my friends, and most of the people I invited could come. I got some really nice presents, my best friend (who I've known for 11 years now) got me this pretty little glass jewellery box and one of my other rather talented friends made me a new pencil case with a cute little bow on it. I got my Pandora bracelet from my Mum, and I was really not expecting the present I got from my Dad. I gave him no suggestions, and he was certain he'd picked something I was going to love. I had no idea what that could be. I got a compound bow! Specifically, this one [link]. It is so cool! Most of guys from karate are pretty into weapons and one of them knows a lot about bows so he helped my Dad choose one for me. A couple of times at training they wanted me to pull some things and as it turns out they were comparing my drawing strength to our friend's daughter who is 13 and has her own bow as well.
The day after I got my bow we decided to go out to their place since they're out on a property and have a shoot. I've done a bit of archery before so I knew the basics but the compound bow was really different to what I'm used to. I think I'm getting the hang of it, we made some adjustments and I'm pretty consistent when I shoot. At one point as I was drawing I accidentally bumped the release, and it fired off somewhere into the bush and we couldn't find it anywhere. Not the first arrow I've lost, and it probably won't be the last... I love it, a compound bow for my sixteenth birthday is a pretty awesome present!
